After giving 4 drs. it was found that although perfectly unconscious, even to pricking with the knife, yet the muscles of abdomen and perinoeum were in strong spasm ; chloroform was continued until the patient's breathing became stertorous, pupils to dilate, and pulse to f 'til, but the spasms continued, and it was decided to defer the operation for a day.
